ALLEN PARK, Mich. (AP) — The Detroit Lions selected Corey Fuller in the sixth round of the NFL draft.

The Lions took the Virginia Tech wide receiver with the third pick of the round Saturday, the 171st overall

The 6-foot-2, 204-pound wideout will have ample chances to compete for a spot in Detroit’s rotation. All-Pro Calvin Johnson set a new NFL record for receiving yards by a receiver but had precious little help after injuries to Nate Burleson and Ryan Broyles and the suspension and subsequent release of Titus Young.

It was the third pick for Detroit on the final day of the draft. The Lions took South Carolina defensive end Devin Taylor late in the fourth round and selected Appalachian State punter Sam Martin late in the fifth.
