Slay gets a chance to compete with Lions

ALLEN PARK, Mich. (AP) — Darius Slay thought he’d hear his name during the first day of the NFL draft, but he walked out of Radio City Music Hall without a team.

He stuck around, however, and the Detroit Lions didn’t make him wait long.

The Lions gave him that chance when they selected the Mississippi State cornerback with the fourth pick of Friday’s second round, the 36th overall.
