A Yacolt woman was injured early Sunday morning after her car veered off southbound state Highway 503 north of Battle Ground and struck a mailbox, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Sierra Hofmann, 23, was driving a 1996 Ford Contour about four miles north of Battle Ground when she fell asleep, the patrol said. She is accused of second-degree negligent driving.

The accident happened at 1:30 a.m.

The patrol said Hofmann was taken to a local hospital but neither of Clark County’s hospitals listed her as a patient Sunday night. She was wearing a seat belt, the patrol said.
