NEW YORK (AP) — Phillies catcher Carlos Ruiz is back in the lineup after serving a 25-game suspension for a positive amphetamine test.

Ruiz, an All-Star last season, is set to bat fifth Sunday as Philadelphia goes for a three-game sweep of the New York Mets. He says he’s real happy to be back with the team and has put the penalty behind him, but it was hard to watch his teammates play without him.

Philadelphia opened 11-14 without Ruiz. To make room on the roster, backup catcher Humberto Quintero was designated for assignment.

A steady player affectionately known as “Chooch,” the 34-year-old Ruiz had a career year in 2012 when he batted .325 with 16 home runs and 68 RBIs despite missing a little more than a month with a foot injury.
