BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) — Mike Slive wants knowledgeable football people choosing who plays for the national championship.

The Southeastern Conference commissioner said Monday he wants “football expertise”, integrity and transparency on the selection committee for the College Football Playoff which begins in two seasons. He wants fans buying into the process.

Slive is hoping that final, big piece of the playoff puzzle will be put in place in the next several months.

He’s also hoping that conference realignment is done for now. The Atlantic Coast Conference last week joined the Big Ten, Pac-12 and Big 12 in having its members hand over their TV rights to the league.

The grants of rights makes it nearly impossible for schools to switch conferences.

Slive spoke at the Associated Press Sports Editors Southeast regional meeting.
