READING, Pa. (AP) — Confident after a successful debut season, coach Bill O’Brien is back on the road rallying support among Penn State’s massive fan base.

He told school alumni Monday he hopes fans will show unified support over the next few years with Penn State facing roster pressures because of NCAA sanctions.

O’Brien says other schools are questioning to potential recruits whether the team can succeed while under scholarship limitations.

Penn State has to play with 65 scholarship players by 2014, 20 fewer than most teams. They were down to nearly 70 during last year’s 8-4 season.

O’Brien says the team will likely be at 65 this fall. Freshman offensive lineman Anthony Stanko, who did not play last season, is leaving the team but will keep his scholarship.
