CLEVELAND (AP) — Outfielder Delmon Young has been activated from the 15-day disabled list by the Philadelphia Phillies after missing the first 26 games because of offseason surgery on his right ankle.

Young is batting fifth and is the designated hitter Tuesday against Cleveland. Phillies manager Charlie Manuel said Young, who primarily was a designated hitter last season with Detroit, likely will play right field Wednesday in the finale of the two-game series.

Young, who had the surgery in November, completed a minor league rehabilitation assignment in which he hit .367 with no homers and two RBIs. He played right field in those games.

In addition to his $750,000 base salary, Young earned a $250,000 bonus for his first day on the active 25-man roster.

Outfielder Ezequiel Carrera, who was hitting .077 in 13 games, was designated for assignment.
