Letter: More local jobs needed

I have written to my legislators and received their replies describing their vision of a Clark County bounding with economic growth for years to come as the result of the Columbia River Crossing project.

Their vision is complete with light rail happily bustling passengers to work in Oregon each morning, and bringing them home each evening, while the bridge, the crucial connection between Seattle and San Diego, supports the transport of business products all across the nation.

Despite the politicians’ rhetoric, newspaper surveys and editorials, and readers’ letters to the editor (often matched one pro vs. one con), I have a different vision for Vancouver and Clark County — one that sees local dollars being used to develop land for local industrial expansion and one that sees more local residents happily going to local jobs each morning, instead of being used to export our labor to Oregon via light rail.
