SPOKANE — The Spokane City Council voted Monday to give police power to write tickets for smokers violating a rule to stay at least 25 feet away from building entrances.

The Spokesman-Review reports police will give warnings before writing a $50 ticket, but now they have a tool to use against habitual offenders.
