SAN JOSE, Calif. — Police say a woman who allegedly poisoned two bottles of orange juice and placed them at a Starbucks has been booked on suspicion of attempted murder.

Ramineh Behbehanian, 50, was arrested Monday night after a customer at a Starbucks in San Jose saw her remove two bottles of orange juice from a purse and put them into a refrigerated display case.

Police Sgt. Jason Dwyer said firefighters tested the contents and determined the bottles contained a potentially lethal amount of rubbing alcohol.

The man who saw Behbehanian put the tampered bottles into the case immediately told employees. That quick action enabled employees to follow the woman to the parking lot and get her license plate.

“If it weren’t for the actions of that customer, I believe we’d be talking about a homicide right now,” Dwyer said.
