OLYMPIA — An Olympia man who says he was wrongly accused of possessing child pornography says he plans to file a claim or lawsuit against the city for defamation.

Troy Fisher told The Olympian that he wants the truth to be told with the same diligence as untruths.

Police looked into his computer in July 2012 because friends had reported Fisher missing. Charges were dismissed in February after a judge ruled the images were discovered without a search warrant.

Fisher’s friends said in a news release Wednesday their computer experts found the images may have been acquired without the user’s awareness, likely as a result of a virus.

A former artistic director at Capital Playhouse, Fisher lost most of his income after his arrest.

Police said they conducted a good faith investigation.
