Letter: Aid WSP in catching cheaters

Kudos to Rod Livengood’s July 26 letter “Help out the honest residents.” It is frustrating to see all the Oregon-plated cars in neighborhoods, as well as the morning traffic into Oregon. These people are committing fraud, as well as taking money out of our pockets because we are having to compensate by higher taxes. It is easy to report them and I wish more people would. On the Washington State Patrol’s website, there is a link or you can call — no one needs to know it was you.

While I was in a store recently, a couple ahead of me bought quite a lot of groceries and then pulled out their Oregon driver’s license to be exempt from tax. Then they proceeded out to their car with Oregon plates. The annoying thing is my wife says to me that their kids go to her school, which is in Vancouver. So not only do license cheats get away with no tax, they also have a driver’s license for the same purpose. I call that outright fraud. These people are getting a free ride at our expense.

Also, kudos to the WSP for trying to make a dent in this issue.
