BALTIMORE (AP) — Second baseman Brian Roberts has been put on the paternity leave list by the Baltimore Orioles as he awaits the birth of his first child.

Roberts left the team Friday to join his wife in a Baltimore hospital.

The 35-year-old Roberts is batting .245 in 30 games with the Orioles this season.

To fill the void, Baltimore activated right-hander Steve Johnson from the 15-day disabled list. Johnson was sidelined since June 6 with a left oblique strain.

Johnson is 1-1 with an 8.49 ERA in five games this season.
