BOSTON (AP) — The Arizona Diamondbacks activated Sunday’s starter Brandon McCarthy from the 15-day disabled list before their game against the Red Sox.
To make room for McCarthy, the club designated left-handed reliever Tony Sipp for assignment.
McCarthy (2-4, 5.00 ERA) was sidelined with right shoulder inflammation since May 31. He went 0-0 with a 6.97 ERA in two rehab starts with Triple-A Reno.
Sipp was 3-1 with a 3.86 ERA in 48 games.
