Private forest land access closing on Tuesday

Eight private timber companies will be closing public access to more than 200,000 acres in Southwest Washington and northern Oregon beginning on Tuesday.

The companies include Hancock Forest Management, Longview Timberlands, Stevenson Land Co., Western Pacific LLC, Broughton Lumber Co., Kreps Ranch LLC, Kreps Family LLC and American Forest Management.

The lands are in Skamania, Klickitat, Hood River and Wasco counties.

All public entry will stay closed until the Washington Department of Natural Resources reduces the Industrial Fire Precaution Level to One

Security patrols will be assigned to enforce the closure.
