Redskins’ Kyle Shanahan: RG3 is getting rust off

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — Kyle Shanahan says he understands Robert Griffin III’s frustration.

The Washington Redskins offensive coordinator said Thursday that he’s also frustrated that he doesn’t have his top quarterback at full-go for practice, but that it’s for the best that Griffin not try to do too much while returning from reconstructive knee surgery.

Griffin had some 11-on-11 work for the second day in a row, taking 21 snaps and completing 14 of 15 passes against a scout team defense.

Shanahan says it’s now a matter of Griffin “getting the rust off” and getting as much work as possible without risking further damage to the knee.

Shanahan says he and his father, head coach Mike Shanahan, have had “constructive arguments” over the years, but he thinks they’ve made each other better.
