ENDICOTT, N.Y. (AP) — Kenny Perry shot a 7-under 65 on Friday to take a one-shot lead after the first round of the Dick’s Sporting Goods Open.

Perry sank a birdie putt at No. 18 to move ahead of brothers Brad and Bart Bryant and Joel Edwards.

Esteban Toledo, Jeff Freeman, Rick Fehr, and Russ Cochran were tied at 67 as just over half the field broke par under ideal scoring conditions at En-Joie Golf Club.

It was old-hat for Perry, the Senior Players and U.S. Senior Open winner this summer, and sort of a breakthrough moment for Bart Bryant. The Champions Tour rookie missed three years with wrist injuries at the end of his career on the PGA Tour.

The Bryants were gunning to become the first brothers to tie for the first-round lead at a Champions Tour event since Mike and Dave Hill at the 1990 Bell Atlantic Classic.
