SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (AP) — The Saratoga Springs Police Department says Charlotte Bobcats assistant coach Bob Beyer was charged with resisting arrest Thursday night following an altercation with bouncers at Gaffney’s bar.

The 51-year-old Beyer was also charged with second-degree obstructing governmental administration and disorderly conduct. All the charges are misdemeanors.

According to a police department press release, Beyer’s acquaintance, Edward Parenteau, allegedly assaulted one of the bouncers and “Beyer and (Ryan) Chartrand attempted to stop officers from arresting Parenteau and they were arrested. Beyer then began fighting with the police and was charged accordingly.”

The Bobcats issued a statement Saturday saying “We are aware of the incident. It is a legal matter and we will have no further comment until the legal process has run its course.”
