SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. (AP) — Takuma Gomi hit a two-run home run in the top of the sixth inning in Tokyo’s 3-2 victory over Taoyuan, Taiwan, on Sunday night in the Little League World Series.

After allowing one of Taiwan’s two runs in the bottom of the sixth, Kyousuke Kobayashi got Chen-Hsun Lee to fly to center for the final out with a runner on first. Japan improved to 2-0, and advanced to face Mexico on Wednesday.

Japan opened the scoring in the second inning, when Dai Okada hit an RBI double.

Both of Taiwan’s runs came on errant throws. Huai-Chien Lan scored on an errant throw from right field, and Shih-Che Chou scored on a wild pitch.

Taiwan (1-1) remains alive in the two-loss elimination tournament. It will face San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico, on Monday.
