ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) — Mike Trout isn’t in the Los Angeles Angels’ lineup for their series opener against Cleveland, resting his right hamstring.

Angels manager Mike Scioscia says Trout might be available as a pinch-hitter Monday night.

Trout felt tightness in his hamstring Sunday while running out a double, and he left the Angels’ loss to Houston after the fifth inning.

Los Angeles decided to be cautious with its All-Star outfielder, keeping him on the bench for at least one game.

Trout has reached base in 40 consecutive games, the majors’ longest current streak. He is batting .333, second in the AL to Detroit’s Miguel Cabrera, with 156 hits, 78 RBIs and 28 stolen bases.

Josh Hamilton played left field and Peter Bourjos was in center for the Angels.
