Letter: Why does action take a fatality?

I think the Aug. 10 editorial “Cheers” for the Clark County commissioners considering changes to an intersection at Northeast 199th Street and 29th Avenue should be a “Jeers.” While I’m glad the commissioners are finally taking action, why does it take a fatality to improve road safety?

Citizen input or complaints don’t seem to carry any weight. Even though we see the problems on a daily basis, some staffer makes the decision that the traffic volume doesn’t warrant additional safety measures.
