EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) — The New York Giants are going to have to make changes on their offensive line for the second time in as many days.

The Giants announced Wednesday that David Diehl will need surgery to repair an unstable right thumb. The 32-year old was hurt in Sunday’s preseason game vs. Indianapolis and is expected to be sidelined six weeks.

The surgery will come one day after Diehl was moved from right tackle to left guard in the wake of an injury to center David Baas. Left guard Kevin Boothe moved to center and first-round draft pick Justin Pugh played right tackle.

Boothe could move back to guard and Jim Cordle could play center. Or, Boothe could stay put and Cordle or Brandon Mosley could take over at guard.

The Giants (1-1) will meet the Jets (1-1) on Saturday.
