The Portland Pilots women’s soccer team kicks off its season today, hosting Marquette in a match that features top-25 teams.

Kickoff is at 7 p.m. at Merlo Field.

In the Soccer America preseason poll, Portland is ranked No. 15 and Marquette is No. 14.

Washougal graduate Ellie Boon is part of a Pilots’ freshman class that was ranked among the best nationally. She played the first half in -midfield on Saturday in Portland’s 1-0 exhibition win over Portland State.

The Pilots return 15 players and nine starters, plus two players who missed last season with injuries. Among the veterans is senior Amanda Frisbie, who led the West Coast Conference in goals last season.

A fireworks show will follow the match. Beginning at 4 p.m., several food vendors will be open on the plaza next to the stadium.

Ticket prices range from $12 to $18.
