Advocates for comprehensive immigration reform will host a town hall in Vancouver at 7 p.m. tonight, and they have asked a member of U.S. Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler’s staff to attend.

The town hall will take place at Clark Public Utilities, 1200 Fort Vancouver Way. Residents of Herrera Beutler’s 3rd District will ask the Camas Republican to support immigration reform policies that include a pathway to citizenship for people living in the U.S. illegally.

If a member of her staff does not attend, the group plans to speak to an empty chair, according to an email announcing the event.

Similar town halls will take place this week and next week in other parts of Washington state, including Yakima and Spokane. Event organizers include the immigration advocate group OneAmerica and the Service Employees International Union.
