Construction jobs increased 4 percent in the Portland-Vancouver area in July, compared to the same month last year, according to a new analysis of federal employment data released Friday by the Associated General Contractors of America.

Construction jobs in the area increased to 52,200 in July, up from 50,400 in July 2012. The metro area was among 201 metro areas reporting year-over-year construction job gains, the largest number of increases since March 2012.

Although employment is on the rise, construction spending has yet to reach full, pre-recession recovery in most regions, including the Portland-Vancouver area.
