Valiant Girl sets record in Monmouth Park feature

OCEANPORT, N.J. (AP) — Valiant Girl set a Monmouth Park record Saturday, running 1 3/8 miles on the turf course in 2:21.95 to win the $60,000 Omnibus Stakes.

Trained by H. Graham Motion and ridden by Forest Boyce, the 4-year-old filly broke the mark of 2:22.69 set by Approved by Dylan in 2008. Valiant Girl beat Parranda by a head and paid $17.40, $7.80 and $3.80 for her third win in 11 career starts.

Parranda returned $5.80 and $3, and favorite Tabreed paid $2.20 to show.
