Letter: Manage basic needs first

Mayor Leavitt’s push for the city of Vancouver to fund the operation of light rail leaves me nearly speechless. Isn’t this the city that can’t fund all of its fire stations? Isn’t this the city that has one of the lower numbers of police per thousand residents in the state? Isn’t this the city that can’t afford to maintain its parks so they are an inviting place for kids to play? The mayor needs to get over losing his favorite toy and start managing the city’s basic needs for fire, police, parks, and infrastructure.
