COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Quarterback Braxton Miller’s legs carried Ohio State for most of the first half of last season.
After that, the Buckeyes spread out the responsibilities on offense, with tailback Carlos Hyde and the wide receivers assuming their share of the load.
Yet coach Urban Meyer, a major proponent of a hurry-up, no-huddle spread attack, could barely recognize his hurry-up, no-huddle, spread offense. This season, with everyone adjusted to the coaching staff, the playbook is completely open and available.
Jordan Hall will take over the H-back spot. Several young backs are itching to show their stuff. And Miller is now directing the offense instead of just taking snaps and taking off.
Ohio State’s offense now is much closer to what Meyer had hoped it would and could be.
