ASHBURN, Va. (AP) — Robert Griffin III doesn’t have a monopoly on major knee surgery rehab with the Washington Redskins.
Safety Brandon Meriweather is returning from a torn right ACL, and the team needs him healthy to anchor the back line of a defense that ranked 30th against the pass last season.
Meriweather’s knee was sore during training camp, and he sat out the first three preseason games. He’s expected to play in Thursday’s preseason finale against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Meriweather played in only one game last season but had quite an impact. He had one interception, broke up two passes and made seven tackles in 41 defensive plays.
