Browns to rest most starters against Bears

CLEVELAND (AP) — Browns coach Rob Chudzinski has opted to rest most of his starters for the exhibition finale against Chicago.

Backup quarterback Jason Campbell is expected to start instead of Brandon Weeden as Chudzinski, who considered playing his starters for a portion of the first quarter, won’t risk getting anyone hurt in Thursday’s game. On Tuesday, Chudzinski said it was possible his starters would get “10 to 12 reps.”

Weeden will sit along with running back Trent Richardson and all the offensive linemen except right guard Oneil Cousins, who recently was handed the job following ankle injuries to Shawn Lauvao and Jason Pinkston.

Receivers Travis Benjamin and Josh Gordon, who is suspended for the first two regular-season games, will start.

Campbell missed Tuesday’s practice with an unspecified illness, but is feeling better.
