Archer exits early with leg injury for Kent State

KENT, Ohio (AP) — Kent State star running back Dri Archer was knocked out of the Golden Flashes’ opening game against Liberty with a leg injury.

Archer, who was being promoted by the school as a Heisman Trophy candidate, was on the sideline with a protective boot on his left foot during the second half.

Archer ran for 1,429 yards and averaged 9.0 per carry last season. The senior had three carries for 10 yards against Liberty, and Kent State led 16-10 in the fourth quarter.
