Battle Ground has selected Margaret “Maggie” Smith to serve as the city’s finance and information services director.

She replaces Catherine Huber Nickerson, who took a job as Camas’ finance director earlier in the summer.

Smith is a certified public accountant who has worked for the Washington State Auditor’s Office and the city of Vancouver. For 11 years, she served as director of finance and accounting for the Port of Vancouver. She earned a master of business administration from Oregon State University and a post-baccalaureate in accounting from Portland State University.

She’ll direct a department that accounts for all of the city’s assets and is responsible for central accounting. The department is also responsible for providing information technology services.

More information about the city of Battle Ground and its finance department can be found at the city’s website at www.cityofbg.org.
