Eastern Michigan grabs a 34-24 victory over Howard

YPSILANTI, Mich. (AP) — Bronson Hill scored back-to-back touchdowns and sparked a 21-point scoring run for Eastern Michigan to secure a 34-24 victory against Howard in the season opener for both teams Saturday night.

The Eagles were trailing by 11 points when Hill scored a touchdown with a minute to go in the third quarter. Hill ran for another touchdown three minutes into the fourth after an interception by Sean Kurtz set up the Eagles at the Howard 15, giving Eastern Michigan a 27-24 lead. A touchdown by Darius Jackson capped off the scoring streak. The Eagles are trying to come back from a 2-10 season.

Howard’s Greg McGhee threw for one touchdown and rushed for another in the third quarter, giving the Bison their 11-point lead. McGhee finished with 160 yards passing and 93 yards rushing. William Parker had 82 yards rushing and the other Bison touchdown.
