Firefighters extinguish home blaze; occupants flee to safety

Firefighters extinguished a house fire in Clark County’s Andresen/St. John’s neighborhood Monday night.

The fire was reported at 8:04 p.m. at 7018 N.E. 56th Ave., a single-story house built in 1977.

All of the occupants were out of the home by the time firefighters with the Vancouver Fire Department arrived, according to emergency radio traffic monitored by The Columbian. The crew attacked the fire from outside of the structure.

The blaze was knocked down shortly before 8:30 p.m. A damage figure was not available.

Clark County property records list Patricia and Jerrold Melton as the owners. Additional information was not available Monday night.
