MIAMI (AP) — Chris Coghlan, the 2009 NL Rookie of the Year, became a free agent when the Miami Marlins failed to offer him a 2014 contract by Monday’s midnight deadline.

In addition to letting the outfielder go, the Marlins also didn’t offer a deal to right-hander Ryan Webb.

After hitting .321 with nine homers and 47 RBIs to win the rookie award, Coghlan has been limited by injuries to 91, 65, 39 and 70 games over the last four seasons. He hit .256 this year with one homer and 10 RBIs in 195 at-bats, and was eligible for salary arbitration after making $503,500.

Webb was 4-3 with a 4.03 ERA in 65 relief appearances and made $975,000.
