St. Bonaventure gets by Mass-Lowell 67-58

SAINT BONAVENTURE, N.Y. (AP) — Marquise Simmons scored 19 points and pulled down 11 rebounds to lead St. Bonaventure to a 67-58 come-from-behind win over UMass-Lowell Tuesday night.

Andell Cumberbatch also had a double-double, totaling 13 points and 11 rebounds for the Bonnies (6-2). Matthew Wright contributed 15 points.

St. Bonaventure could not get the ball in the basket in the first half, making only 8 of 36 from the field. UMass-Lowell (1-7) hit 39.1 percent and held a 34-31 advantage at the half.

The Bonnies quickly got that turned around, making 52.4 percent of their shots in the second half. Meanwhile the River Hawks went cold, shooting only 7 of 26 in the final period.

Cumberbatch started the second half with back-to-back jump shots, Simmons had a layup, and the Bonnies were out front 37-34. They stretched that lead to 58-48 with 3:30 remaining.

Akeen Williams had 17 points for UMass-Lowell.
