Traffic lights at state Highway 500 and Northeast Fourth Plain Boulevard are back to working after a controller failed this morning, said Washington State Department of Transportation spokeswoman Abbi Russell said.

Crews continue to repair the traffic signal and said that motorists traveling through the intersection may notice longer than normal delays with the timing of the lights, Russell said.

The agency was notified that the lights were blinking about 7:30 a.m., and within 15 minutes east- and westbound traffic had backed up at least a mile, Russell said.

“This is one of the busiest intersections in Clark County so traffic got backed up very quickly,” she said.
