A big second quarter sent the host Wildcats to their second Trico League win of the week. Trailing by two after the first quarter, La Center outscored King’s Way 24-9 in the second quarter.

“We really turned up our defense and got some stops, and stepped up and made some shots,” said Connor Wonderly, who led La Center with 22 points and six steals.

Wonderly said the Wildcats turned up the full-court pressure.”We just flew around and got in the passing lanes,” he said.

Wyatt Aguirre scored 18 for La Center, which got points from all nine of its players.

Parker Ickert scored 13 points for King’s Way, and Karter Graves added 12.

Wonderly said the challenge of starting the season with league games turns up the urgency for Trico League teams.

“We can’t take any games off,” he said. “We knew we had to come out firing right from the start of the season.”
