Letter: Unclog lanes on Oregon side of I-5

The Columbian
Published: December 6, 2013, 4:00pm

Louise Clair, in her Nov. 27 letter “Wasted enough on CRC; start again” has it mostly right. Oregon is ready to help with a new bridge if its light rail is extended. This, however, doesn’t help with the traffic. If you have nowhere to go south after crossing the new bridge what has been accomplished? When Oregon decides to fix the traffic between the Interstate 5 Bridge and the Fremont bridge then we can talk new bridge.

In the meantime, let’s vote on what Oregon does every time they have a bridge that gets crowded. They build another one. They have 11 bridges on the Willamette River, plus the Interstate 205 and the I-5 Bridge across the Columbia River, so Clair is so right that the only way to lick this traffic problem is having several bridges.

She is wrong on the money spent so far being wasted as we learned a lot from that spent money.
