EL PASO, Texas (AP) — McKenzie Moore scored 14 points and John Bohannon added 13 with nine rebounds to help UTEP defeat Sacramento State 69-51 Saturday night.

The Miners (5-4) held a slim two-point lead in the first half, but surged with a 16-5 run holding Sacramento State scoreless for nearly eight minutes as they moved to a 34-21 lead at the break. C.J. Cooper ignited the run with a 3-pointer and Matt Willms added a dunk, layup and two free throws.

Moore was a perfect 10 of 10 from the free-throw line and had seven rebounds. Willms finished with 12 points and Julian Washburn hauled in a game-high 10 rebounds.

Sacramento State (2-4) couldn’t close the gap, shooting just 28.8 percent from the field and being outrebounded 45-30. Mikh McKinney paced the Hornets with a game-high 22 points on 8-of-17 shooting, but was the only Sacramento State player in double figures.
