St. Mary’s runs past EWU for 93-65 win

MORAGA, Calif. (AP) — Brad Waldow scored 24 points to lead five Gaels in double figures as St. Mary’s beat Eastern Washington 93-65 Sunday night.

After Drew Brandon hit a 3-point shot to pull Eastern Washington (5-3) within seven with 9:24 left in the first half, the Gaels went on a 16-5 run to open up a 33-15 lead, and EWU would never get closer than 12 the rest of the way.

Kerry Carter scored a career-high 18 points for St. Mary’s (7-0). Beau Levesque added 14, and James Walker III had 12. Stephen Holt finished with 11 points, seven rebounds and six assists.

St. Mary’s outrebounded EWU 49-36, including 18-10 on the offensive glass.

Eastern Washington shot just 39 percent (23 of 59) from the field and a season-low 17.4 percent (4 of 23) from 3-point range.

Tyler Harvey scored 20 points in the loss.

St. Mary’s led 41-26 at the half.
