Franklin Elementary School is open today, despite a weather-related water leak in the school office. The water leak did not impact classrooms.

A mechanical unit that circulates heated water froze, causing a water leak. The system failure happened Sunday night, said Amanda Richter from the communications office at Vancouver Public Schools.

“We are still trying to assess the situation,” Richter said.

Parents received the following email from the school today:

“Franklin School is open today, Monday December 9th, but there was a water leak and the office and building are closed for foot traffic. Classrooms are warm for the students. Please have your student go to their class as usual but go around the building to the Media Center if your child is arriving late. The Media Center will be used as the school office until further notice.”
