Columbia Way — Nothing means Christmas joy more than a new bike from Santa. To make sure that joy reaches children whose families can’t afford new bikes, Waste Connections hosted its annual bike-building “Christmas Promise” program on Dec. 5. Volunteer employees from Waste Connections were joined by other volunteers from the community, including cyclists from Bike Clark County and the Vancouver Bicycle Club, in assembling new bikes that were provided by local donors and businesses. Approximately 200 volunteers built more than 400 bikes. They’ll be donated to local charities that provide Christmas cheer for families that don’t have much.
