ASHBURN, Va. (AP) — The Washington Redskins have promoted rookie running back Jawan Jamison to the active roster.

The Redskins made the move Tuesday to replace running back Evan Royster, who was put on injured reserve.

Jamison was taken in the seventh round of the draft. He was cut at the end of preseason and spent the first 14 weeks of the regular season on the practice squad.

Royster left Sunday’s loss to the Kansas City Chiefs with a high left ankle sprain.

The Redskins also signed running back Miguel Maysonet to the practice squad.
