PORTLAND — Rental-car customers at Portland International Airport can expect to pay a new fee next year, $6 a day for a maximum of four days.

Airport spokesman Steve Johnson said the Port of Portland’s commission authorized the facilities fee Wednesday.

He said the revenue is dedicated to projects related to rentals, and the top priority is replacing the quick turnaround facility that rental companies use for fueling, washing and readying vehicles.

Johnson says the 24-year-old facility is aging and undersized. Estimates for replacing it are about $25 million.
