KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. — State police say an SUV hit by a train south of Klamath Falls was driving on a gravel road and crossed the tracks at a marked railroad crossing when it was struck on the passenger side.
The collision Tuesday in Midland left the driver and his wife dead, and another passenger seriously hurt. All are from Klamath Falls.
Troopers say the Union Pacific Railroad train pushed the vehicle off the tracks, and then needed a mile to stop. The crossing was marked but did not have crossing guards.
State police say the driver, 33-year-old MacKenzie Conway, died at the scene. His wife, 25-year-old Kalla Conway, was ejected and also killed. Twenty-seven-year-old Nicholas Conway was ejected from the back seat and walked across the road before being taken to the hospital.
