CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — Adjehi Baru scored a game-high 19 points on Thursday and Charleston played a strong second half to beat Division II Coker 68-54.
Coker (4-4) led 13-11 until 10:12 in the first half, when Anthony Stitt hit a 3-pointer, then a layup to give Charleston (4-5) the lead. Baru’s jumper with 46 seconds to play put the Cougars up by eight, and Charleston led 32-26 at halftime.
Charleston increased its lead in the second half with short scoring bursts, and Baru scored 11 points in the half. With 7:01 to play, Canyon Berry made a layup to give the Cougars a 56-49 lead, sparking a 5-0 run, then he hit a jumper with 57 seconds to play to make the score 61-49.
Stitt scored 13, Barry finished with 11, and Charleston out-rebounded Coker 44-27.
Julian Nelson led Coker with 18 points and Eren Moses added 15.
Charleston is 11-0 against Coker.
