Chase De Leo scored both goals for the Portland Winterhawks, but the Seattle Thunderbird scored twice in the third period to win the Western Hockey League game 3-2 Friday at Kent.

De Leo’s first goal tied the game at 1-1 in the first period and his second goal on a power play gave Portland a 2-1 lead after two periods.

Seattle scored its two third period goals three minutes apart, getting the go-ahead goal on a power play.

Both teams were 1-4 on the power play.

Portland was without Oliver Bjorkstrand, Taylor Leier, Nic Petan, Derrick Pouliot and Layne Viveiros, who are playing in international tournaments. In addition to Veloso, defenseman Justin Greer also made his WHL debut.

The two teams meet again Saturday night at Veterans Memorial Coliseum in the sold out Teddy Bear Toss game.
