SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) — Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly says quarterback Everett Golson will return to school after serving a semester-long suspension for academic impropriety.

Kelly says there will be “a lot of noise” surrounding Golson, who was suspended for academic impropriety after leading the Fighting Irish to the national championship game a year ago. The school announced Friday he had been readmitted.

Kelly said Saturday that he and Golson had missed each other’s telephone calls. But Kelly traveled to Golson’s hometown of Myrtle Beach, S.C., on Tuesday to meet with him. He says Golson looked bigger physically, but he was more impressed with how Golson appeared mentally prepared to meet the challenges he faces.
