Longwood pulls away from Bluefield State 99-73

FARMVILLE, Va. (AP) — Tristan Carey had 22 points and 14 rebounds and Lucas Woodhouse had 13 points and 11 assists on Saturday night to lead Longwood over Bluefield State 99-73.

The Lancers (4-7) scored the first seven points and never trailed in the game. They led only 39-34 at the intermission, but shot 21 of 30 from the field in the second half and used a 16-5 run midway through the period to take control and pull away from the Big Blues.

Longwood finished 61.4 percent from the field in the first meeting between the schools on the basketball court. Karl Ziegler added 21 points on 8-of-8 shooting and Jeylani Dublin had 17 points of 7-of-9 shooting. Zieglar added seven rebounds and tied his career best with five assists.

Remar Brothers led Bluefield State with 23 points in 23 minutes. Treon Claiborne added 17 points and Avery Holliday scored 15.
